Little Hong Kong's 7 begins in Hong Kong, 1997. Gran Lockwood and MI6 Agent Barnaby Scriven investigate Anson Beck's involvement in a jewelry heist from a Chinese drug lord. At the center of the crime is a brutal triple murder just before the handover of the British Colony to the Peoples Republic of China, a crime that was never solved, leaving the question: were the murders part of a plot to disrupt the handover? In 2023, Vancouver, Canada: the World Rugby Sevens tournament is a week away. Kenna and Wiggy are there to cover the spectacle, doing stories on the increase of interest in contact sports and the improvements in sports medicine. They are also there to meet the Hong Kong police inspector, now living in Vancouver, who investigated Gran Lockwood's case. Kenna agrees to help the inspector close that chapter of unsolved murders, focusing on the jewelry heist to also find Beck. As a surprise, the inspector reveals there was a fourth victim in Hong Kong, his brother, which throws suspicion at the inspector. The Little Hong Kong case thrusts them into the middle of their most mysterious and challenging case to date. Multiple murders are staged the same as the Hong Kong murders, each with a specific theme, a piece of jewelry, and in a specific order. A mysterious Chinese painting at each murder scene holds hidden clues. These systematic murders point to a drug war, or perhaps an internal power struggle. Or are the killings an effort to recover the priceless jewel collection? Or, perhaps, something altogether different ... a serial killer running rampant? Contradicting clues confound Kenna. Some offer simplicity, others complexity, telling her, in the end ... that perhaps they looked at this case all wrong from the beginning. Read more
